You Love Who?

My Lucy loves horses, movies, rice and avocados, ice cream, climbing, jumping, and singing (among many other things), but what did she tell me last night?  "I love you Mommy"...entirely unsolicited, she pieced together those 4 words on her own, adding Mommy at the end.  She said it in the dark during bedtime, and she didn't know it, but Mommy cried a little that night.  Never has she said that to me without prompting or repeating until now.  I don't think I'll ever forget that moment.

I love you too Lucy.

Toy Story Mania

   

I'm not entirely sure when the obsession with horses started, but I know that she seems to really love her horse Bullseye (which she pronounces "Bull Eyes") and of course her Woody and Buzz dolls.  Toy Story is still her favorite movie.  She has the large version of the horse, and the smaller version from Nana that she sleeps with at night. I really wonder if Sophie will jump on this band wagon.

We went into the city for dinner tonight and Chicago has painted wooden horses around town, which Lucy had to sit on of course.  (Although she kept saying "ride cow", so I think they didn't do such a good job with the details.)

Girls

As soon as I put Sophie down on a blanket for some playtime or tummy time, Lucy will join.  I've also caught her trying to sit in Sophie's bouncy seat, so I think there is some attempt at getting attention going on here.  Regardless, it makes for great photo opportunities to get them in the same frame.

Morton Arboretum

It was hot, but this weekend we took the girls to the Morton Arboretum.  It was the first time I'd been  there, but it was a great place for kids.  They had a whole children's garden complete with pond and stream to search for tadpoles.  Mommy even got in with Lucy in her barefeet to search for tadpoles.  It was...interesting.  Sophie relaxed in the shade, and we ended the visit with a push-up pop for Lucy.  (Man I love those things!)

I am slowly learning the differences between both girls, and yes they do look different, but it's kind of fun to see the similarities too.

Reading

Elmo Says...

Lucy is starting to "read" books and it is so cute.  This one was fairly simple, where each page starts "Elmo Says...swing the bat" or "Elmo says...touch your nose".  I love listening to her.

In trying to get creative on my maternity leave, I've starting introducing Lucy to some other forms of entertainment.  Today we built a fort.

Sprinkler Time

Lolo and Lola have been helping out tremendously while I'm home alone with a toddler and a new baby by watching Lucy a couple days here and there.  And since they have a nice backyard, Lucy has been having fun with water...her favorite.  She started taking to drinking from the sprinkler!
