Spontaneous Shedd Aquarium visit

A trip out for breakfast on a Saturday morning turned into a day affair ending in Lucy's first trip to the Shedd Aquarium.  This was the perfect time to take her.  One of her favorite movies is Finding Nemo ("watch Nemo" she will say) so she got a big kick out of seeing the clown fish in person.  She also loved the seahorses, the jellyfish, and the camping tents and boat set out near the rivers/lakes section.  A cute moment: she danced to the Caribbean music playing in the middle tank where the diver fed the big fish (sharks and manta rays).

Jellies!

Sick

I shouldn't say that it was a boring weekend, but it really was an awful boring weekend.  Lucy caught some sort of cold I guess?  She is just not herself.  She is either clingy or whiney, or a combination of the two, and we were all pretty much shut-ins the entire weekend hoping to see some sign of improvement.  The symptoms aren't terrible enough to go the doctor, but awful enough to take the sweetness out of my baby girl.  We did have fun with the new stroller attachement which converts our current stroller to a "double"...Lucy climbs in all by herself!

What little time was spent out of the house included a small walk outside, but she got to try out her new rain boots and coat!  It was sort of a dreary Saturday morning anyway...

I thought to make the day interesting we could try out her new water table...so we put it in the bathtub Sunday afternoon to give her something to do.  I think she just thinks it's a fancy bath toy...but it makes sounds and has a little water fountain which she thought was cute for a few minutes.  At least she was able to sit in some warm water...that always makes me feel better when I'm sick.

Nana and Papa's Visit

Lolo and Lola are on vacation, so we were lucky enough to have Nana and Papa visit to cover for the daycare gap.  What fun Lucy had!  She went to her gym class, Old Orchard mall, the local library, and out to lunch.  Not to mention all the fun she had on Nana's iPad.  Lucy now says "Y-Phone" (instead of iPhone) and has learned to leave pigtails in her hair thanks to Nana.  Now if only I could be successful creating this same hairstyle on her...

Silly face!!!!  She made this face all on her own out of the blue :)

Sharing

Another 80 degree day in March!
Lucy shared her ice cream cone with Daddy.

And we finally did a drive by of the "Home Alone" house.  I've always wanted to see it in person.

...ended the day with some cuddle time.

St. Patrick's Day

Given the choice between two shirts, Lucy of course chose to wear her Fresh Beat Band shirt (which is still a little too big).  But it's St. Patty's day, so let the girl wear green!  She does have a little Irish in her.  We spent the day at 2 parks due to the 80 DEGREE weather we are having in March!  Unbelievable!  We first went to a local park, then ate lunch out at an Italian place that had huge windows open so we could feel the breeze!  After her nap, we went up to The Glen for ice cream (gelato) and to check out their playground.  Made a stop at Dick's Sporting Goods where Lucy walked out with a Cubs baseball and bat, and I got to do a little shopping too.  Bought the girls their first pair of matching t-shirts...they have Boston Terriers on them...I HAD to buy them!

Key Lime Cove

We wanted one last hurrah before Baby Sister arrives...something special just for Lucy, so we decided to take her to an indoor water park for a couple of nights up north.  She loves water, likes slides, and it was only a 35 minute drive, so we headed to Key Lime Cove.  She really loved the water park.  She spent much of the morning going down the slides, shouting "Again, Again!" as soon as she landed in the pool.  Most of the time she braved the slides herself and Mommy or Daddy caught her at the bottom.  She also rode the lazy river, hung out in the wave pool and kiddie pools, and spent time in the arcade.

She also LOVED the arcade and found one "ride" that she insisted on riding over, and over, and over again.  (And then again for good measure.)  She must have rode this ride at least 20 times during our visit.

We got upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi tub so Lucy had fun ending the night in a bubble bath with the jets on.  I think she really had a good time.

The Fresh Beat Band Concert

She LOVES this band!  She was a little overwhelmed at the concert I think...the loud crowd surprised her some, but she warmed up towards the end and eventually started dancing.  She was definitely entertained, sat in our laps for much of it, but wouldn't take her eyes off the stage.  We left with a band t-shirt and CD.  She now sings the words to many of the songs, some of which she knows the entire song!  Definitely her favorite right now.

Build-A-Bear

Lucy's first Build-A-Bear trip with Mommy, Daddy, and Auntie Pam was a busy one.  The store was definitely crowded, but in the end Lucy got excited about the outfit, picked out a Rapunzel dress, and brought home a really cute bear that plays Bruno Mars "Lazy Song".  What a funny combination.

Daddy made the "Cheese" picture face, and Lucy followed his lead...
