Fall

Time to break out the leg warmers!

PAWS Chicago "Run for Their Lives" 4K Walk

We took Lucy into the city Sunday morning down at Montrose Harbor for what I'm hoping will become our annual participation in PAWS Chicago's "Run for Their Lives" 4K Walk which helps benefit the no kill shelters for homeless pets.  We did it last year when I was pregnant with Lucy.  And now here we are a year later with our beautiful, nearly 8 month old daughter.  And Roxy is a mature 5 years old this year, but thinks she's still one.  Oh how I love this dog!  But no one loves her as much as Lucy.  She even represented the Boston Terrier breed in full uniform, bundled up in 3 long sleeve layers (and then spent the rest of the walk cocooned in her stroller in a BundleMe...it was a little chilly and windy!)

We met up with Steve and Erin again this year, who brought their furbabies.  Lucy loved them!

Also took a few shots of some cute puppies (a bulldog puppy named Arnold), and of course some other Bostons in their Halloween getup.  So cute!

From Left to Right: Puppies!  Underdog!  Skunk and Lady Bug!

And just for fun, here's a shot from last year's walk in 2009.  The weather was much nicer and my body was busy building a baby.

Fun With Hats

Some are too big, some are too small...but she makes these hats look good!  Fall is around the corner so we thought we'd have a little fashion show to get ready for some cooler weather.  I love Autumn so I can't wait!

Farewell Summer

Lucy at approx 6 1/2 Months with one pooped Roxy

I think this picture encapsulates much of Summer 2010 for me and Lucy.  Almost every day I would get home from work, pick Lucy up and rush home to take her outside and enjoy the breeze.  I'd strap her into the Baby Bjorn, grab Rox, and off we would go for a walk.  If Lucy was tired, it was a short walk.  But this summer Lucy was the perfect age to explore.  She was about 4 months old at the start of summer, just about the time that she became aware that there was a world outside of her crib and Mommy's arms.  So she would love to go for these walks and take it all in.  It was so much better than sheltering her inside the stroller.  She got a great view from up high on my stomach, and I got a decent workout.  Mostly I think she just watched the dog :)  She's madly in love with Roxy.

The "Mini-Crunch"

The "Mini-Crunch"

Name:  The Mini-Crunch

Description:  This is one of the pictures I was able to get of the "mini-crunch".  She will lift her head and shoulders up off the floor, tense her body (holding her breath like she's about to do a sit-up), stick her arms and legs out straight, and raise them all in the air while pointing her toes.  Her little body kind of shakes a little and she'll hold it there for like 3 seconds, and then lay back down.  I think she's trying to sit up, but hasn't figured out how yet, so it always results in what I've now dubbed "the mini-crunch".   Most often performed on the changing table immediately after laying her down on it, or if she's been on her back too long while playing.

Review:  ★★★★  (4 Stars)
This makes me laugh every time without fail.  It is so darn cute!  I've tried this move by the way.  It is not easy.  It's like doing a pilate's move by creating a "V" with your body, and then holding it there.  My favorite thing about watching this is the little face she makes...it's one of such determination and her lips are all scrunched up or pursed.  My baby is going to have abs of steel!

Happy Grandparent's Day!

Lucy would like to say Happy Grandparent's Day to her favorite Nana and Papa whom she can't see today because they live far away.  But oh how she loves them so!

Labor Day Weekend

Lucy made a visit to her Nana and Papa over the weekend!

Look how happy she was to see them!

I've figured out that Lucy really is an easy baby.  She travels well for the most part, and is pretty easy to please.  She was dishing out the smiles right and left for everyone...ham :)  She continually showed off her "mini crunch" skill, which made us laugh every time!  (I think I'll have to post a picture soon of her in action...it's really cute.)

I think she really enjoyed being the center of attention.  She responded to everyone as if she remembered them, and even got to meet Uncle Shawn for the very first time!  She gave him a smile too.  It was his birthday weekend so we had a good time playing cards and eating cake.  Jay and I even got to go out to a movie!  We saw Inception...what a trip!

Happy Birthday Uncle Shawn!

Even Roxy got to hang out with the neighborhood gang.  Hmm, now which are the Crypts and which are the Bloods?  I think she passed her initiation test.  She definitely tried to show them who's boss.

Which one is Roxy?

Lucy also got to have a playdate of her own.  She got to see one of her best friends, Taryn.  Taryn is a couple months younger, but you wouldn't know it by looks.  She's actually bigger than Lucy!  My little squirt has some more growing to do.  They had a grand old time playing on a blanket and attempting to poke each other in the face, but Taryn was kind enough to share her toys and even made it a lunch date!
