Michigan Trip

We are traveling fools! Sophie had her first trip to Michigan for a family reunion with the Terrill side of the family, and also got to see the Lerias side as well.  It was a busy weekend, ending in a trip to the beach in South Haven.  I didn't take many pictures...it was SO HOT due to the 100 degree weather, but here's a couple of Mommy's family...including Uncle Shawn!

On our way home, we thought we'd split up the drive and stay over in South Haven for a trip to the beach.  We got a little beach time in at night...it was beautiful.

Playing Pretend: Birthday Party!

While Sophie was sleeping, and before we even got dressed for the day, we played "Birthday Party!"  I wanted to test whether Lucy would be ready to play "pretend".  So I set out a plastic table cloth on the floor, got out balloons and party hats, and her wooden birthday cake set and tea party cups.  She LOVED it!  She was totally into it. Before I even finished blowing up a balloon, she had dubbed the event "Birthday Party" which she kept saying in a high-pitched falsetto voice.  She then continued to sing Happy Birthday and kept blowing out the candles. I put water in the tea cups and snuck little snacks in the dish when she wasn't looking...raisins, M&Ms (her favorite), and goldfish crackers.  We even had guests!  Baby Belle, Tinkerbell, and dinosaurs.  We eventually ended up playing "Barbie" of sorts, using Tinkerbell and her other fairy friend.  They would ride dinosaurs and have their own birthday parties.

Smiles

Sophie's smiling!
Her first smile was at 3 1/2 weeks old.  She smiled at Daddy first, in the middle of the night.  She smiled at Mommy the next day.  Life is sweeter :)

Happy 85th Birthday Grandpa!

Surprise!

Sophie's first road trip: a Surprise Birthday Party for our Grandpa!  Celebrating 85 years for one wonderful man with many friends and family at the Ken Lake Resort.  It was so special.  I'm still blown away by all of the work that went in to planning and preparing for the event.  The food, the photo slide show, the cake, the time line, and all the additional photos, and even toast tributes to our Grandpa made for one memorable event.

There were 2 cakes!

Lucy gearing up to party...she was trying to be the show stealer all night.

MY personal favorite moments of the night were the speeches.  All three of Grandpa's kids spoke, but it was after Papa's speech that Lucy stood up front by the podium and shouted and clapped "Yay Papa!" after he was done which made everyone laugh.  It was SO cute!  Maybe she's not so shy after all.

Our first night in Kentucky we were treated to a wonderful stay with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Mark in their awesome finished basement...complete with wooden rocking horse.  Lucy was in heaven!  And I was just happy to finally see family.
Our second night we got to stay with Grandma and Grandpa now that the surprise was over.  I LOVE that both daughters have now gotten to go down and visit their house...it holds a special place in my heart after many summers spent down there.  I about died when Grandma pulled out some of the very same toys that I played with as a little girl.

Kohl Children's Museum

An impromptu visit to the Kohl Children's Museum with our friend Ella and her Mommy Cat.  Good thing we were indoors...partly because of the extreme heat outside, but also because of the huge downpour we had around lunchtime.  And whoa was it windy!

Here's Doctor Lucy checking the x-ray in her lab coat.
Uncle Richie would be proud.

Sophie: 6 Weeks Old

Sophie is 6 weeks old today, so Mommy had fun with a mini photo shoot to capture this age.  I wanted to use her gorgeous blanket that her soon-to-be Aunt Laura hand made.  The most sophisticated baby blanket she owns!

I also took some "flower bottom" photos.  She has some flower bloomers from Nana brought home special from Kentucky!  Great Grandma makes a good shopping partner...
