Mommy Wednesday: Finger Paint!

Mommy's little artist.  Every night Lucy makes me draw on her magnetic board by repeating "Graw, graw" over and over again until I entertain her with quick little sketches of anything and everything.  Even bath time has turned into art time, as we have special crayons that are meant for the tub.  She now puts in requests: "Graw Poopa (Foofa from  Yo Gabbba Gabba) Graw Mommy, Graw Daddy...and most recently "Graw Papa".

Birthday Balloons

The balloons that won't die.  These are still leftover from her birthday!  Lucy has a newfound interest in those that have lost their helium...bouncy seats!

We also added some accessories to her dress-up trunk.  She put all of these bracelets on herself.

Play Dates x3

This weekend we had visitors!

We puppy sat my sister's dog, Coppi.  We had the Weiss family visit for the weekend.  AND we got a visit from Hilary on Saturday!  All the warmth in our house was very inviting.  Roxy got a playdate all weekend and I could tell she really enjoyed the company.  Mommy got to see two of her best girlfriends and was even spoiled with a little girl time for pedicures!  (Thanks to the Daddies for entertaining the little girls at a Valentine's Party and playhouse at Northbrook Ct.)  And Lucy of course got to have a play date with Taryn all weekend.  They are finally starting to interact more!

Dance Party!

The girls used the play area down in our basement Sunday.  They also got into Lucy's dress-up trunk.  And for the first time Lucy handed me the one pink princess dress she had, said "On", and then I swear I heard her say "I Princess".  She then didn't want to take it off and ate a royal hotdog lunch with french fries.  I'm unsure if this is just a phase, or a glimpse into the next 5-10 years of my life.

Mommy Wednesday: WONDER!

Lucy was a little under the weather, so we skipped her gym class this morning, but I tried to make it up to her by taking her to the play area at the store up north called "WONDER!"  This video makes me smile because it seems like she's running an obstacle course to see how many different things she can play with in under a minutes time.  How I LOVE this girl!  (And her energy, even when she's sick!)

We also had her 2 year check up today.  She is finally over 26 lbs (yay!) and she is 90th percentile for height!  Long and lean, just like Daddy!

Valentine's Day

Today we worked on getting Lucy to say the word "love" and "heart".  My biggest challenge as a Mom is trying to get Lucy to understand that today is all about showing your love to those that are most important to you, and different ways we can do that...yet I know her first impression of this holiday is probably going to be about sweets, and Mommy's love of chocolate.  I can't help it!  Our friend made some beautiful cupcakes for our family and Lucy had fun eating the fondant butterfly :)  I don't blame her one bit.

We did get to Face Time with Nana too today.  Happy Love Day!

Roxy's Coat

How do you explain to your 2 year old that this coat is not for her?
When she desperately wants to put it on?

Happy 2nd Birthday Baby!

We celebrated our Little Lucy turning two this year at our own home.  It was a lot of work, but I think Lucy was pretty comfortable being in her own house.  We had close friends and family come over and help celebrate, Toy Story style.  Seeing as how thats Lucy's favorite movie, she sort of chose Toy Story as her theme and we ran with it.  I made a cake for her complete with a Buzz Lightyear candle which she loved.  Aunt Melissa surprised her with Toy Story cookies decorated with the characters, which she munched on all day, adding to her sugar overload.  We had an ice cream bar complete with sprinkles since that's Lucy's favorite.  Nana made rice krispie treats that even had Toy Story stickers on them, as well as plenty of veggies and dip.  Lolo and Lola provided homemade empanadas which were so yummy!  We also made sure to have Hawaiian bread, Lucy's favorite.

She opened all of her gifts the next day.  It was like Christmas!  Papa helped put together some of them for her.

The absolute CUTEST apron and chef's hat from Lucy's Nana!

Toy Story cookies!

The basketball hoop (a gift from Nana and Papa) is a huge hit!  She was laughing so hard every time Daddy shot a basket.  She was having so much fun!

She also seems to really love her new slide we got her for her birthday.  She's pretty good about sitting down and sliding on her own.

A castle fit for a princess...

Lucy's actual birthday fell on Super Bowl Sunday this year.  We let her stay up and watch the whole thing, but really she just entertained herself with a sucker and played with us all night.

We told Lucy to give Buzz a kiss :)
