The Field Museum

It was sort of on a whim over the weekend that we ended up at the Field Museum.  It was Lucy's first trip.  We saw the Whale exhibit along with some of the permanent exhibits.  We made sure to let Aunt Hilary know we got to take Lucy to where she works!

It was pretty fun for her I think.  She just loved all the people there!  She would go up to other children and try to interact.  It was really sweet.  She also found this statue of an alligator where she spent a good 5 minutes or so just trying to sit on it.  Very cute.

These information labels were right at Lucy's level.  I think she appreciated it because she didn't want to leave.  She kept holding on to these signs as if they were her own books, and cried when we tried to get her to move on to see something else.

Somonauk

A day spent with family in Somonauk, IL.
It was gorgeous weather out by the lake!  We celebrated our cousin's wedding at their reception lunch and Lucy had a go at exploring the grounds of the Lodge.

Lolo and Lola!

And some other cuties...

Cousin Maebry

We ended the night by meeting the newest member of Jay's extended family, Miss Phoebe Darla...
Melt my heart!  She's like a miniature version of my Roxy.  She had the personality to match too.  The world's SWEETEST dog.  Puppy kisses on the nose are the best :)

The Pool

My little retro Lucy.  It was a 95 degree day today, so we headed to the pool.  But I also took a bunch of pictures of her walking Rox during a potty break.  I love the little sweetheart neckline on this romper, and the ruching in the front and back make it look so 1940s!  What a stylish way to beat the heat.

In our stroller on the way to the pool...

What a beach babe.  So the pool doesn't allow cameras, but I snuck this one shot of her relaxing in the stroller right before we left.  It was so neat to watch Lucy wade through the kiddie pool for the first time. She went under the water twice!  Both times on accident, and I think she was a little surprised, but she didn't cry.  She seemed a little scared at one point and kind of clung to me, but then by the end she was back at it again.  I picked her up high in the air and plunked her back down in the water to splash, which she made me do over and over again, laughing the whole time.  I love her laugh.  We also figured out how to splash by kicking while sitting on the edge of pool, which we later practiced in the bathtub.  Funny.

Farmer's Market

Beautiful Lucy, even when she's sick...again.  We JUST got over our big cold that snowballed into an ear infection and pink eye.  10 days of antibiotics later and she was back to 100%...but for only 4 days until a second wave hit.  Another cold I guess, which led to a missed birthday party.  But we did take her out and about just to get out of the house (just not around any other kids...the cough is terrible!)  How pretty though is she at the Morton Grover Farmer's Market?

Sunshine
And to end the HOT humid day, another ice cream trip, but this time to Oberweis.  It seems to be becoming tradition to always get ice cream when your kid is feeling down and out.

Stirring up something for Mommy and Daddy for breakfast...Cheerios I believe.

Hello Summer

Okay, so there are a ton of pictures here, and all of them to showcase Lucy's pink ruffled swimsuit.  (Sorry baby, it is so stinking cute!)  I'm not even a huge fan of pink, but I'm beginning to believe it's Lucy's "color".   Nana says she looks good in everything (except for navy, and even navy looks good but it's just not vibrant).  I've also been told that Lucy has beautiful "coloring"...which to white people means she's got a built in tan :)  It's beautiful, and therefore I think pink looks lovely on her.  But she really is just lovely all by herself.

She LOVES water!

Our friends Brendan and Kim had us over to take advantage of the warm Wednesday.  They have such an incredible, beautiful backyard!  And Brendan was so cute splashing around in his water table.  What a sweet boy!

Lucy has now eaten her first handful of sand.  It probably won't be the last.

Yum!  Strawberries!

WIND!
